Pursuant to the privatisation agreement dated 31st December 1993 (“Privatisation Agreement”) entered between the Government of Malaysia, Penang Port Commission (“PPC”) and Penang Port Sdn Bhd (“PPSB”), Penang Port shall operate, manage, provide operational facilities, and port services in the Port of Penang to control, maintain, construct, improve, and develop the Port commencing 1st January 1994.
Penang Port houses a plethora of services, lending itself well as a multipurpose port that provides unique value towards the growth of industries in Penang. Being situated in Penang is also a major game-changer, as Penang is strategically linked to the Indonesia – Malaysia – Thailand Growth Triangle (IMTGT). Academic Qualification
1. Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) Hons or Bachelor of Legal Studies (Hons) or equivalent.
2. Preferably qualified as an Advocate and Solicitor of High Court of Malaya.
Relevant Experience
At least one (1) year’s experiences as a law practitioner and/or inhouse counsel.
Knowledge/Skill competencies/Leadership
1. Preferably completed pupillage and has been admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor.
2. Strong command of English and Malay (written and spoken).
3. Ability to work in a team and independently.
4. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Reasonable computer skills with functional working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook etc.).
6. Sufficient knowledge and experience in corporate, litigation and employment matters.
7. Flexible and adaptive.
8. Willing to perform any tasks assigned, as long as it is legal and in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
9. Ability to plan and manage the plan of actions.
