1. PHARMACY ASSISTANT
Job Description:
- To receive prescriptions from patients and screen to ensure the prescription is complete with all the necessary information, and instructions
- To prepare prescription labels which include information such as patient name, doctor name, name of medication, type of formulation, and dosage instructions
- To dispense medication to patients and counsel patients if the need arises
- To ensure adequate stock levels of medication at all times, and inform pharmacy store executive if there is any shortage, or increase in demand
- To prepare extemporaneous preparation when required
- To inform the pharmacist of short expiry drugs, or slow moving drugs for follow up action to be taken
- To rotate stock within the hospital, or arranging the medication to be placed according to which is expiring first (first in, first out)
- To order medication stock from the pharmacy central store, receive and arrange accordingly in the Out-patient pharmacy
- To compile daily statistics, such as number of patients requesting prescriptions, new prescriptions received, and in patient prescriptions;
- Responding to telephone, and face-to-face inquiries from patients, their representatives, from public, and also a wide range of staff groups. If the need arises, queries are directed to a relevant member of the pharmacy team
- To ensure standards are also on par to the JCI policy
- To assists pharmacist, and also pharmacy store executive with inventory related matters, such as counting of medication stock, checking of expiry dates, ward checks, emergency trolley checks, dangerous drug checks, and so forth
- To be present at designated area of work (out-patient/in-patient) according to rotation, and to be present at work on time based on schedule
- To maintain the optimum level of medication stock
- To ensure the medication stock in the out-patient pharmacy, in-patient pharmacy, and also pharmacy central store are arranged, and stored in an orderly manner
- To ensure that the dangerous drugs/psychotropic drugs are stored in a secured manner, and is locked at all times
- To receive the ordered medication stock from the suppliers, and acknowledge the invoices upon receiving
- Prepare all the medications requested (indent items) from respective departments

Company Overview
When the Late YAB Tun Hussein Onn was the Chairman of Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) (1975 - 1990), he realized the necessity to have a dedicated Eye Hospital which will provide state-of-the-art Eye care to the Malaysians to prevent unnecessary blinding disorders. As funds were limited in MAB, he worked relentlessly in procuring funds through public donations. Through his leadership and untiring work MAB managed to raise the funds and the building started to take shape.
A 5-storey building was put up in Lorong Utara B in the land belonging to MAB. Many equipments were donated by well-wishers such as JICA. On 22nd March, 1986, a soft launch of the hospital services was officiated by the late YAB Tun Hussein Onn. It was a unique ceremony where all religious Heads blessed the Hospital and the eye hospital in the country was ready to receive its first patient. In recognition of Tun’s leadership in this project and his many years of dedicated service to MAB and its prevention of blindness programmes, the Hospital was named after him as the “Tun Hussein Onn Eye Hospital”. On March 21, 1987, His Royal Highness, Sultan of Selangor officially opened the Hospital.
