Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan)("KWAP") or the Retirement Fund (Incorporated) was established on 1st March 2007 under the Retirement Fund Act 2007(Act 662) replacing the repealed Pensions Trust Fund Act 1991 (Act 454).

The Pensions Trust Fund Act 1991 (Act 454) was enacted to assist the Federal Government in funding its pension liability. With the enactment of this Act, the Pensions Trust Fund was established on 1 June 1991 with a launching grant of RM500 million from the Federal Government. The Pensions Trust Fund was administered by the Pensions Trust Fund Council with the Accountant General of Malaysia being responsible for the day to day administration and management of the affairs of the Pensions Trust Fund.

With the incorporation of KWAP, all powers, functions, activities, assets and liabilities of the Pensions Trust Fund were taken over in totality by KWAP.

Risk Management & Compliance

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance and review the credit risk management framework and processes via policies, guidelines and SOPs.
  • Prepare investment risk related proposal papers and present to relevant committees.
  • Perform independent credit evaluation and provide relevant support to stakeholders on investment matters related to fixed income and loans.
  • Simulate and prepare KWAP annual and ad-hoc stress test exercise.
  • Responsible to monitor and report on credit risk limit compliance within KWAP.
  • Responsible to monitor the fixed income and loans portfolio (internal and external) for signs of financial distress on an ex-post and ex-ante basis.
  • Manage tasks execution for investment risk projects conducted by the investment risk team or other stakeholders which require the assistance of the investment risk team.
  • Frequent interaction with the Investment Units and other stakeholders to ensure business needs are met from a risk perspective.
  • Manage closure of internal/external audit findings relevant to investment risks and provide support to stakeholders for investment risk findings of stakeholders.
  • Execute various tasks or assignments assigned by the supervisors.

Key Requirements
  • Minimum 7 years of direct working experience in risk management – preferably in Credit Risk, Credit Evaluation, fund management or banking sector.
  • Possess at least Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting /Risk Management/Statistics or equivalent. Completion or progress towards professional certification (e.g., CCP, FRM, CFA etc.) is an added advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in investment risk management and well verse in financial industry best practices on risk management.
  • Good analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and general computer use.
  • Good understanding of financial statements, ratios, and concepts.
  • Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English.
