Positions:
1. SHARIAH REVIEW (COMPLIANCE) FOR TREASURY & SUBSIDIARY
Job Descriptions:
- Perform Shariah review on overall treasury business, operations & activities of Bank Rakyat, departments in Head Quarters and Bank Rakyat’s subsidiary, including the end-to-end product development process to ensure the overall business, operations and activities are Shariah compliance at all time.
- Perform Shariah review on overall treasury business, operations & activities of Bank Rakyat, departments in Head Quarters and Bank Rakyat’s subsidiary, including the end-to-end product development process.
- Produce and implement Shariah Review Plan which includes objective, scope, checklist, rating, sampling, exit meeting.
- Obtain sample of account to be reviewed.
- Contact and email the reviewee to inform about the Shariah review process that will be implemented.
- Conduct Shariah review Process as planned.
- Discuss and present the results of the review process that has been implemented.
- Report Shariah review exercise and findings to the Shariah Committee on regular basis and communicate the Shariah Review Report to the respective parties for further action.
- Discuss and present the results of the review process that has been implemented to Shariah Committee for further confirmation.
- Inform and escalate the minutes of SC meeting to the respective parties for further action.
- Monitor rectification plan/any actions to be taken by the respective parties as approved or recommended by SC.
- Conduct Shariah Compliance Awareness Programme for all staffs
- Conduct test/examination.
Job Qualifications:
- Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Shariah, Islamic Finance, Islamic Banking which includes study in Usul Fiqh (the origin of Islamic law) and Fiqh Muamalat (Islamic transaction/commercial law).
- Minimum two (2) years working experience in banking/related industry preferably in Shariah Compliance, Shariah Audit, Shariah Risk or related field.
- Proven experience in working in a Shariah, compliance, risk and auditing function/role.
- Have good understanding in Islamic banking operations which include legal and finance.
- Possess critical thinking to be able to discuss Shariah issues in banking operations at length.
- Able to review documentation of business requirements and processes and make a significant recommendation that directly and indirectly impact the bank.
- Possess strong interpersonal skill and able to independently and effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and able to interact with people at all levels in professional manner within the Bank.
- Possess good oral and written communication in English and Arabic is an added advantage.
- Ensure the overall banking activities are Shariah compliance at all time and and have the ability to detect the occurrence of Shariah non-compliance.
- Recommend the best solution to overcome the Shariah non-compliance occurrence.
- The ability to apply a risk-based review approach, considering the appropriateness and cost effectiveness of the internal controls in relation to the magnitude of the existing risks and design the Shariah review policies, procedures and programs to ensure an effective and efficient review.
